Ellorians
Pointy-eared space-faring tree huggers.
Pixie sticks in the mud.
Brightly-coloured love children of the Patrons.
Space Elves.
All names and titles that have been given to this race of people. An offshoot of humanity from before humanity even knew they were a species, and many times after. Taken from the world in times when devastation reigned and the seeds of life on the little blue marble of space was in danger of being extinguished. Natural, or manufactured, it mattered not what that disaster was. Only that it required a breeding populace for the survival of the species. Placed on different worlds, they were changed to be able to adapt, adjust, and grow up in such different environments that they developed quite a few unique features and traits.
Racial Traits
First, was the way their genetics changed to be exceptionally long-lived. At least compared to humanity. Next were the adaptations of their bodies to take on different hues of colour for hair and eyes, have more lithe frames, require less food, breathe different densities of air, and grow ears more sensitive to sound vibrations in both liquids and air. Their need for food is had best minimal, and why should it be otherwise with their current ability to create foods that taste and provide perfectly balanced nutrition for each individual person? As a side effect, their figures tend to lean towards the lithe during childhood, which is considered to be over a hundred years. During puberty, they do grow into their lanky bodies but do not tend to put on too much weight. At full maturation, body types can vary to a degree, the females putting on full curves and some weight(as is healthy for the conception and carrying of offspring) and remain at that basic weight for most of the rest of their lives. The males can bulk up and build muscle mass, but nothing truly as impressive as what humanity can achieve. Their muscles remain sleek and ropey with little bulk. They possess an impressive ability to move among trees, or within water, based upon the primary place the Ellorian was raised. For the lucky few that were raised in a location that boasted both tree and water in plenty quantity, their genetics will push them to favor one over the other most of the time with a rare balance being struck. They can see further at night and in dark waters, but part of that is because of their excellent hearing. A few of the aquatic elves possess an ability to be 'sirens' that can send out their voice in the water to communicate vast distances.
Culture
Ellorians are almost exclusively female. While there are males, it is at a ratio of 200:1. A male birth is hailed as a blessing and often that male with have everything offered up to him for an advantage. Marriage within Ellorian society has no divorce or way to end the commitment. Females that are of a high enough position can opt to conceive a child, but it is often only allowed for a chance to first and second daughters. Marriages and the taking of a mate are cause for extreme celebration so much so that it is often broadcast to all the worlds. Beyond that, females in a large family (which is typical) will not be allowed to seek out a mate for the stiff competition, unless they do something so significant that their genetics are thought to be a boon to the entire race. Competition can be vicious when opportunities arise that might grant such long-lived women a chance to find a mate and have a family of their own.
Their society is run by an Empress and a council that helps her in regards to all decisions on Ellorian government. Every position is filled with females and males, regardless of gender, as equally as their population allows. They have long known the "Greys" are responsible for bringing them from another world to be transported, but their legends to speak of a Goddess that cast them onto their new homeworld when her peaceful garden and children were nearly lost. No one follows religion there, but the blessings and curses still take that name into account. "Goddess above and below!" "Goddess remove you from her soil!" "By the Goddess's grace, may you grow well." and so on. Their sciences are all based upon a melding of technology and biology. You would not be able to find a single structure, including their space ships, that are not grown with all the amenities included. Well, save for exceptionally ancient ruins, from when they first settled.
History/Important Events
Rise of the Goddess -
There had been legends told from the first Ellorian that had been settled upon Elloria, about the "Goddess" that would birth and free the race into the stars to spread far and wide. All priestesses who followed this religion (for very few males were allowed to follow a path of solitude) worked actively to find and identify the one who would be called "Goddess". It came in the form of a small girl - (to be cont)
